Italian Salad (The Neapolitan Classic)

This is a recipe of yummy salad which is healthy as well as delicious for evening meals.


  • 12 plum Tomatoes or bell peppers
  • 2 cloves Garlic
  • 6 tbsp Parmesan Cheese (grated)
  • 2 pounds mozzrarella cheese
  • 1 1/2 cup extra Virgin Olive Oil
  • 7-8 cups basil leaves
  • Salt – to taste
  • Black pepper grounded – to taste



  • Slice tomatoes in half (lengthwise)
  • Cut mozzarella in to slices
  • Preheat oven to 200 F



For Sauce:-

  • In a large bowl, add 1/2 cup Olive oil, Salt, Pepper and Sliced tomatoes. Toss them.
  • Take a baking sheet and place these tossed Tomatoes and bake for 2 hours till Tomatoes are softened.
  • After two hours, when Tomatoes get softened, remove Tomatoes from the oven and let them cool.
  • When cooled, set aside the Tomatoes and drain the Tomatoes.
  • Blend Garlic and Parmesan in a blender till the Garlic is roughly chopped.
  • Add the shredded Basil leaves to blender and blend till the leaves are shredded completely.
  • After the Basil leaves are blended with Garlic, add 1 cup Olive oil in the blender, blending until smooth.


Place the drained Tomatoes in a flat dish with mozzarella slices and tomato slices alternating.

Serve with the Sauce on the side and sprinkle other remaining Basil Leaves.
