How to make Chicken Qorma / Murghi Salan


  • Chicken= 1 kg
  • Yogurt= 2-3 cups
  • Black Pepper= 6-7
  • Salt= to taste
  • Red Chilli Powder= 1 tbsp
  • Cinnamon= 1 piece
  • Green Cardamom= 4-5
  • Cloves (Laung)= 4-5
  • Coriander Powder= 1 tsp
  • Ginger/ Garlic Paste= 1 tbsp
  • Water= 1 cup
  • Oil= 1-2 dish spoon
  • Onions fried= ½ – 1 cup



Time required= 45- 50 minutes

Serves= 8=10 persons



Take Oil in a Wok or a deep Pan. Heat Oil and add Cloves (Laung), Black Pepper, Cinnamon and Green Cardamom. Fry them for 2-3 minutes on a medium flame.

Now add Salt, Red Chilli Powder, Coriander Powder, Ginger/ Garlic Paste and fry for 3 more minutes while constant stirring.

Add Chicken and fry for 2-3 minutes more then add Water.

Cook till the Chicken gets tender.

Blend Yogurt and Fried Onions together in a blender to make a smooth paste.

Add this paste in the Chicken (in the Wok) and mix well. Cook for 4-5 minutes more.

Serve hot with Tandoori Nan or Taftan Roti.
