HARAY DAHI BARAY

INGREDIENTS:-

  • White Mash Lentil (Safaid Mash ki Daal)= 1 ½ Cup
  • Yellow Mong Lentil (Peeli Mong ki Daal) =1 ½ Cup
  • Garlic= 8-10 cloves
  • Onion= 1 chopped into pieces
  • Green Chillies= 12-14
  • Salt= to taste
  • Oil= for deep frying
  • Yogurt= 1 kg
  • Coriander leaves= 1 cup
  • Mint leaves= ½ cup
  • Cumin Powder= 1 tbsp
  • Garlic paste= 2 tbsp
  • Water= as per requirement
  • Chaat Masala= to Sprinkle

PREPARATION:-

Preparation Time= 45-50 minutes

Serves= 6-8 people

METHOD:-

Take a bowl and pour White Mash Lentil (Daal) and Yellow Mong Lentil (Daal) in it. Soak it in water for over-night.

The next morning, take a blender and blend both the Lentils (Daal), Garlic cloves, Onion, 6-7 Green Chillies and 1/3rd Glass of Water. Blend it to make a thick and smooth paste. Add more water if needed.

Heat the Oil on a medium flame for deep frying.

Take a dish spoon or using hands, pour this mixture in Oil. When the Oil is hot, deep fry this paste in the form of round Pakoras or Phulkiyas. These will get a little bit bigger. Fry them till golden brown.

Take out these Pakoras or Phulkiyan on a kitchen paper and let them cool.

Take a large bowl of Hot Water and soak these Pakoras/ Phulkiyas in it for 5-10 minutes.

Take Yogurt, Garlic paste, Salt to taste, Coriander Leaves, Mint leaves and 6-7 Green Chillies in a blender and Blend them well.

Pour in a deep dish.

Now soak their water out from the Phukiyas/ Pakoras by pressing them in between your hand palms slightly and carefully one by one.

Now add these Pakoras/ Phulkiyas in the blended Yogurt. Mix well so that each Phulki/ Pakora absorbs in the green yogurt and becomes soft.

Sprinkle Cumin Powder and Chaat Masala (optional) all over.   If needed, Mix.

Serve Cold. Refrigerate for 1-2 hours before serving.
