There are a number of Hollywood movies to watch in 2012, but the most notable is that two of the largest production houses will mark their 100th<\/sup>\u00a0anniversaries \u2013 Paramount Pictures and Universal Pictures. Some of the films have been rated as the best in the US. These include The Avengers, The Dark Knight Rises, Ice Age: Continental Drift, The Amazing Spiderman, The Hunger Games, Men in Black III, Madagascar III: Europe\u2019s Most Wanted, Brave, Snow White and the Huntsman, and Ted, among others.<\/p>\n

One of the notable aspects of the Hollywood movies 2012 is that Dr. No, the first movie in the James Bond series is about to celebrate its 50th<\/sup>\u00a0anniversary. Another Bond movie, Skyfall, the 23rd<\/sup>\u00a0in the series, will release this year as well. The movies that are going to be released again in 3D and in IMAX are Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace, Beauty and the Beast, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Monsters Inc., Finding Nemo and Titanic.<\/p>\n

The Hunger Games crossed the mark of $500 million worldwide. This was the first movie of the year to experience such stupendous success. It is also the first film, post Avatar, to be at #1 for 4 consecutive weekends at the box office. The Avengers has made around $1.49 billion, which makes it the 12th<\/sup>\u00a0movie to cross the mark of $1 billion. The film had the highest weekend opening in North America, making around $207.4 million. It currently occupies the third highest grossing film of all time in Canada and the United States. The Amazing Spider-Man made $705 million which makes it the 50th<\/sup>\u00a0film grossing the highest all over the world.<\/p>\n

New milestones have been reached by 2 films that have been released in 3D. These are Titanic, grossing $2.185 billion, and Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace, grossing $1.027 billion. Titanic has become the second film to outdo the mark of $2 billion after Avatar. Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace has become the 11th<\/sup>film to exceed the mark of $1 billion.<\/p>\n

No matter which movie you seem to prefer, Hollywood has an undying appeal in itself. The thriving industry is global business, constantly redefining current fashion trends and perceptions. Even in countries like India and European nations, where there are movies made on a large scale, Hollywood has made an indelible impression, so much so that it has become the benchmark by which the movies made in those countries are judged. This is not to undermine the vast talent and potential in these markets, but it remains a stated fact.<\/p>\n
